El Lago Vista is on the Sabinal River in the popular Texas Hill Country in Utopia, Texas. It has 7 1/2 beautiful acres shaded by large oaks, located adjacent to the Utopia Park and lake, and is only minutes from Garner State Park and Lost Maples State Park.It is particularly beautiful in this part of the Texas Hill Country with its majestic mountains, the crystal clear water of the river, and the magnificent giant oak trees.
Utopia got its name in the late 1800's from its climate at an elevation of 1,350 feet. Utopia and the surrounding area has a population of about 400 people. Utopia is a little over an hour drive west of San Antonio.
The river is approximately 300 feet from the house. You can see the lake and the water fall from the back porch but cannot see the river due to the trees. We have a pecan bottom between us and a multitude of cypress trees. The large pecan bottom that joins the river is a grassy gentle slope down to the river. The north east edge of El Lago Vista is part of a rock bottom swimming below the water fall. The rock bottom swimming hole varies from less than a foot to eight feet deep. The swimming hole is approximately 100 feet long and 50 feet wide. The picture of the water fall was taken from the corner of our property. Because the river side of our property joins a public city park, guests can utilize the park for swimming in the lake or nature walks. The park also has summer rodeos and out door dances.
El Lago Vista has a great swimming pool and hot tub and two large patios, one shaded by a giant oak tree.
The lodge has 4 bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths in the main house. Comfortable sleeping for eight people is provided by 3 king-sized beds and a queen-sized bed.
The pool house has sleeping for 6 addition people in 3 futon beds with one full bath.
El Lago Vista name means "The Lake View" and it was named for the view of the lake at Utopia Park next to the property.
Feel free to stroll around their seven and a half acres and the adjacent Utopia Park and lake. Walk along the Sabinal River while watching the wild life and enjoying the beautiful scenery. This area is a deer and bird sanctuary.
You can take a short drive to Garner State Park and Lost Maples State Park to see more beautiful scenery of the area.
The Sabinal River is well known for its crystal clear water, perfect for swimming and fishing. (During drought periods the water level is lower in the river.
El Lago Vista also has an outdoor built-in fireplace and a 36 inch steel wood burning BBQ pit with a 15 inch fire box.
A favorite gathering place of guests is the Pool House. It has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating for everyone. The covered porch has a great view of the pool for watching over the children as they play in the pool.
The outdoor wet bar with a dishwasher is a favorite at the Pool House.
The Pool House has 3 futon sofa-beds for sleeping up to 6 people, and a large screen TV with satellite TV.
There are four bedrooms at the lodge. Three of the bedrooms have king-sized beds and one has a queen-sized bed.
